On the early morning of June 22nd, a building under construction invested by a Chinese national in Sihanoukville collapsed and caused many casualties. The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia is greatly saddened by the tragic loss, expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and hopes for a speedy recovery of all that are injured in the accident.

Meanwhile, the Embassy immediately reached out to Chinese enterprises and chambers of commerce in Cambodia, mobilizing human resources, materials as well as equipments including large excavators to help with the rescue. The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia is also coordinating follow-up rescue actions.

As three Chinese nationals related to the accident have been brought under control by the Cambodian police, the Embassy supports a thorough investigation of the accident and necessary measures by competent Cambodian authority in accordance with the law.
