On December 20, 2018, H.E. Wang Wentian, the new Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, and his spouse Madam Gu Xiaojun were granted Royal Audience by Queen Mother Norodom Monineath in the Royal Palace of Cambodia.

Ambassador Wang Wentian conveyed the cordial greetings and best wishes from Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prof. Peng Liyuan to Queen Mother Norodom Monineath and King Norodom Sihamoni. He noted that the royal family of Cambodia has very close relationship and profound friendship with China. The late King Father Norodom Sihanouk is widely considered a symbol of China-Cambodia friendship. The Chinese side appreciates very much the important contribution made by H.M. the Queen Mother to China-Cambodia friendship, and believes that the friendship, nurtured by the late King Father and older generations of Chinese leaders, will demonstrate new vigor and energy with joint efforts from both sides.

Queen Mother Norodom Monineath welcomed Ambassador Wang on his assumption of office, and requested Ambassador Wang to convey the sincere greetings from herself and King Norodom Sihamoni to President Xi Jinping and Prof. Peng Liyuan. She said that Cambodia and China are old friends and good friends. The Royal Family and Royal Government of Cambodia would continue to promote relentlessly the Cambodia-China friendly cooperation in the new era.
