CPP President Samdech Techo Hun Sen Meets with Liu Jianchao

Phnom Penh, September 4th—Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), met here today with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Hun Sen asked Liu to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to General Secretary Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He expressed his gratitude for the immediate congratulations from General Secretary Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang on the CPP's victory in Cambodia's seventh general election. Hun Sen stated that the election results fully demonstrate the firm support of the Cambodian people for the CPP and their support for CPP's transition to a new generation leadership. It also reflects the satisfaction and support of the Cambodian people for the achievements in the development of China-Cambodia relations. Cambodia attaches great importance to its friendship with China and is determined to promote the building of a community with a shared future between Cambodia and China. The Cambodian side appreciates the Chinese side's long-standing support and assistance to Cambodia's national development and is willing to strengthen strategic alignment with the Chinese side, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, closely coordinate and cooperate in multilateral affairs, and jointly safeguard regional and global stability and development.

Hun Sen highly praised China's remarkable achievements under General Secretary Xi Jinping's leadership. He expressed that the Cambodian side firmly supports and actively participates in the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the three major global initiatives. The CPP is willing to intensify exchanges with various levels of the CPC and deepen experience exchange in party building and state governance.

Liu conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes from General Secretary Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang to Hun Sen. He warmly congratulated Hun Sen on the CPP's broad support in Cambodia's seventh general election and the smooth establishment of the new cabinet led by Prime Minister Hun Manet,. He stated that the Chinese side has always firmly supported Cambodia in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, and development interests, as well as in choosing a development path that suits its national conditions. The Chinese side highly appreciates Hun Sen's outstanding contributions during his tenure as prime minister to the development of China-Cambodia relations. The Chinese side is full of confidence in Cambodia's future and the future of China-Cambodia relations. It is believed that under the leadership of the CPP with President Hun Sen at the core, the Cambodian government and people will forge ahead on the new journey, and achieve national prosperity and development, with and new and greater development continuously achieved in China-Cambodia relations.

Liu said that the strong development momentum of the relations between the two Parties and the two countries has been maintained, and the key lies in the overall planning and guidance by General Secretary Xi Jinping and President Hun Sen. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen strategic communication between leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, deepen the experience exchange in party building and state governance, enhance cooperation in official training, promote greater development in the relations between the two Parties and the two countries and the building of a community with a shared future in the new era. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Cambodian side in international and regional affairs, jointly safeguard the bigger picture of China-ASEAN cooperation, and regional peace and stability.

After the meeting, Liu and Prak Sokhonn, Chairman of the External Relations Commission of the CPP Central Committee, jointly signed the memorandum of understanding on exchange and cooperation between the CPC and the CPP in the presence of Hun Sen.
