King of Cambodia Norodom Sihamoni Meets with Wang Yi
On August 13, 2023 local time, King of Cambodia Norodom Sihamoni met in Phnom Penh with visiting Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
King Norodom Sihamoni asked Wang Yi to convey Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk's and his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping and his wife, and said that he views China as his second homeland and looks forward to visiting more Chinese cities.
King Norodom Sihamoni said that this year, marking the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and China and the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative put forth by President Xi Jinping, is of great significance. King Norodom Sihamoni expressed heartfelt admiration for China's world-recognized achievements under the dynamic leadership of President Xi Jinping, sincerely thanked China for providing Cambodia with all-round support and help, and said that he will carry forward the legacy of His Late Majesty King Father Norodom Sihanouk, stay firmly committed to the one-China principle, carry forward ironclad friendship between Cambodia and China, and support the building of a high-quality, high-level and high-standard Cambodia-China community with a shared future in the new era, so as to bring more benefits to the people of the two countries. Cambodia-China friendship will be everlasting.
Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings to King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, and said that the traditional friendship between China and Cambodia, forged personally by the older generation of leaders of the two countries, is also an epitome of the great efforts made by King Norodom Sihamoni and the Cambodian Royal Family and the most precious common treasure shared by the two sides. Since the beginning of this year, President Xi Jinping has met respectively with King Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, reaching an important common understanding on building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era and drawing a blueprint for the long-term development of bilateral relations. Standing at a new historical starting point, China is ready to work with Cambodia to follow the guidance and jointly elevate the building of a China-Cambodia community with a shared future to a new level.
Wang Yi said that during his visit, he had in-depth communication with the incumbent and new leaderships of Cambodia to synergize development strategies and make plans for the next-step cooperation, yielding positive outcomes. Wang Yi expressed his firm belief that with the concerted efforts of the two sides, the exemplary relations between China and Cambodia featuring mutual respect, treating each other as equals and common development will realize greater development. China will work with Cambodia to steadily advance the "diamond hexagon" strategy, and cooperation in the "Industrial Development Corridor" and the "Fish and Rice Corridor", to boost Cambodia's development and revitalization and the improvement of people's livelihood at a faster pace.
